Hi everyone,

We hope you are all keeping safe and well. Hopefully you got on well with the work we provided last week. We have outlined more work suggestions for the coming week and please remember that this work is a suggested guide and use it like a menu.

Ideally, we would love to hear from every child in our class every week, with a picture of your work or just an email to say “Hi”.

We absolutely love hearing from you all and seeing your work. You are all doing great and we are really proud of your fantastic efforts. We have posted your work in the Student’s Super Work page.

Why do you think that Beatrice did not want to go ice skating with her friends?

At the beginning of the story Beatrice was afraid of making a mistake how did she change by the end of the story?

Which is more important: Learning from your mistakes or being perfect?

How do you feel when you make a mistake?

Writing activities:

Write and draw an account titled A time I made a mistake in your copy

Guidelines:

Write at least 12 sentences.

Complete the Math Maze below. The answers are in red. The rules are:

Students solve the addition problems in each of the bubbles.
Colour in ONLY the bubbles that add to the “super sum” at the top of the page which is 10.
Once the correct bubbles are coloured in, there will be a path of connecting bubbles from the START to the FINISH
Pathways do not travel at a diagonal. There will always be a bubble above, below, to the right, or to the left that adds to the super sum to let the path continue.

Make a robot.

Grab some bits and bobs from around the house and create an art inspired robot. Follow the instructions in the video.

HINTS AND TIPS

Have a look in your recycling for good materials to use. You could try old cereal boxes, magazines or plastic bottles. Tin foil works really well to make a shiny robot!
You will need some adult help when using pliers or scissors.
Robots come in all different shapes and sizes. Can you make one as tall as you? Or why not make a family of robots?
This activity is inspired by the artist Eduardo Paolozzi. Check it out some of his artworks in the video. He was a pioneer of pop art and liked combining machinery and human figures in his work. What can you see in his collage

Beatles powerpoint

In pairs, the actors will create a scene using only a pair of lines. The actors must decide on their characters, the location, the situation and play the scene to a logical conclusion.

Explanation:

The participants pair up and receive a pair of lines. They must devise a scene in which the lines repeat. Pairs rehearse for a short period, then present their “Echo Scene” to the rest of the family.

Directions:

Get a partner (either a brother or sister or an adult).
Each pair receives lines from their Scene

Scene One:

A: I’m sorry.

B: It’s all your fault.

Decide who is Character A and who is Character B.
The two lines in your scene are the ONLY lines actors can say.
You repeat the lines in order
Allow 5-10 minutes to plan, then get your scene up on it’s feet!

Example only:

Scene Two

A: Help me.

B: I can’t.

Each pair should decide who the characters are and what situation they are in i.e. for Scene Two, character A is stuck underneath a fallen tree, and character B is not strong enough to lift the tree
