Licking your Wounds
Acrylic, Bleach Paint, and Embroidery on fabric and jacket
Close up shots:
I started this piece with a sketch inspired by a quote from Isle of Dogs (2018), "I'm not a violent dog, I don't know why I bite." I have loved this movie ever since it first came out and I was reminded of it when this quote recently became popular on Tiktok. Based on the the interpretations of others and my own, this quote relates to a sense of not understanding why you are the way that you are, especially in a negative sense. Like not understanding why you push people away, are cold to others, or get angry easily. This piece also deals with feelings of abandonment and trauma, through the imagery of abused dogs.
Sketches and inspiration:
I decided to bleach paint my first sketch and then add on painted fabric patches.
Planning:
I went thrifting with my mom to find fabric to make the panels/patches out of. Here's what I found --->
