Group: Faith, Zoe, and Kainani

Happening: Baby Scepter Knighting Circle - The group stands in a circle, on their turn, they pick an accessory from the pile in the center and give it to the person on their right. The second person kneels after putting on their accessory and the first person knights them with the Baby Scepter and gives them a new name. At the end, everyone shouts HUZZAH!!!

We intended the piece to amuse our audience and bring down walls by taking part in something silly and unusual. I enjoyed how everyone, though forced to participate, put themselves out there and let themselves be silly and creative with creating names and putting on an accessory. I think the element of putting on/being given an accessory was a very smart addition. It made everyone a part of the happening, more than just doing what they were told. And everyone being together in the absurdity made your turn feel a little less intimidating and awkward. The timing went perfectly in my opinion, everyone’s turn was short and easy, and passing the knighting to the next person and doing the same thing each time made it go smoothly. I think one thing we could’ve added was that everyone had to do a British accent or speak very formally, just to add the theatrics, fun, and absurdity.
