The movement is trying to push for at least an Autonomy from the People’s Republic of China. Other Parties and movements have also pushed for this. I greatly respect the Hong Kong & Canton Independence Movements, because although they may not have achieved their full goals, they still pushed for Cantonese Recognition and Sovereignty. Cantonese People should be lead by Cantonese Leaders, and the PRC should not assign some Mandarin rich kid to leaf the province if he is out of touch with the people. Guangxi has Autonomy as a Zhuang Autonomous Region. Xinjiang and Tibet also share this status, as well as Inner Mongolia. Majority of Inner Mongolia’s Population is Han Chinese, so why can they have autonomy, but Cantonese People can’t? The Mongolian Population has gradually decreased more and more in Inner Mongolia but they still retain Autonomy. However, the Cantonese Community, although slowly decreasing, still is very lively and yet there is no Autonomy for us? This is illogical. This nonsense is part of what the Movement strives to eliminate and without its elimination, Cantonese People can not have the autonomy which we seek.
The Cantonia Independence Party has similar ideals about Cantonese Independence but politically appears to take a more liberal stance— on the other hand, we take a more Nationalist stance and promote the spread of the Cantonese Ethnicity itself and its freedom and growth to what it once was again. Usage of the Cantonese Dialect itself has seen a decrease, and this is part of the problem. However, Cantonese people have a large minority in the rest of the world (specifically the west) and many immigrants still use the language regularly. As of now, the language is the Second-most-spoken in China and is seeing no current signs of endangerment. Cantonese People must be steadfast in their efforts to continue the fight for their culture and people, and this is what the Movement protects.
More will be added as time goes on.
