Introduction to Counselling Skills - Module 2 -  Zoom


Starts:  16th April 2025 to 11th June excluding 28th May 

Day/Time: Thursdays  19.30 – 21.00 (8 weeks excluding school holidays)

Venue: Taught on Zoom with two tutors in a group.

Intended Audience:   This course is designed for people who have done Module One or have had some basic counselling skills training.  Students will be looking to develop their skills and knowledge and may be wanting to prepare for Certificate Level training.  You must be starting to use counselling skills in your paid or voluntary work on commencement of this course. N.B. It is not suitable for absolute beginners.


Course Delivery:  The course will involve active learning with a lot of group work and pair work.  You will learn and practice counselling skills, engage in personal development exercises and will gain a basic understanding of theoretical concepts.  


Assessment: Students are asked to keep a journal of learning and write a short learning statement.  There is a short skills assessment where students and tutor will give feedback.  All attendees completing the module will receive a certificate of attendance and transcript to show hours of study and topics covered. Regular attendance is required.


Progression:  On completion of this module, you will be able to apply to progress to the Level 3 Certificate, where counselling skills are developed and a range of counselling theories are studied. To do this you must already be using counselling skills in your paid or voluntary work.

Indicative Content: Further developing of foundation counselling skills, ethics and boundaries in counselling, developing empathy, focus on helpee’s needs and concerns, self-awareness work, using feedback and reflection
