Vehicle identification within Yorkshire is important to our neighborhood safety and security because:

Immediately alerting MPD to the presence of suspicious vehicles can be one way to interrupt or stop a crime from happening in our neighborhood.

Without sharing vehicle information or issuing decals (as Kirby Woods does), it's frequently difficult to know which vehicles belong in our neighborhood vs. those that do not.

We made a significant investment in MPD technology for the Yorkshire Neighborhood.

Distinguishing resident-related vehicles from others would be a huge help to the Memphis Police Department when it is reviewing surveillance and LPR data from our neighborhood.

Not knowing which vehicles are connected to our neighborhood can hinder and slow the investigative process, and detract from the full potential of our technology investment.

For these reasons, Yorkshire Neighborhood Watch (YNW) is compiling a spreadsheet of motor vehicles and license plate numbers connected to residents.

The more we know who belongs to our neighborhood, the MORE LIKELY:

We are to identify strangers or suspicious activity, AND

The Memphis Police Department will be able to distinguish resident-related vehicles vs. suspicious vehicles when examining our neighborhood police camera and license plate reader data to help solve crimes.
