Social Media

Social Media Strategy

From 2019 to 2020, I was responsible for managing the Trinity College Library social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter). These platforms were used primarily to promote and document events and workshops; showcase collections, digital resources, educational technologies, and student curated exhibits; share community news and artwork in the library; and to provide occasional screencasts of research tips. During the period I was tasked with managing our social media, our primary challenges were to grow our followers; establish more consistency and coordination in our posting activities, handles, and bios to strengthen our brand and match our web presence; structure our social media practices around central goals and objectives; and leverage social media's potential as a community building tool through increased engagement with our audiences.

I created a strategic plan for our social media that was designed to generate awareness and promote use of library services and build relationships with the campus community and other libraries through increased engagement. The plan includes the overall goals for the library's social media as well as the mission, goals, and content strategy for each platform, metrics for determining success, and editorial procedures.

Below you will find the full social media strategy.

Sample Instagram Posts & Stories

Below are examples of content I created for our Instagram account. Some of the content was created during my time as coordinator and some of the content I created and shared with the new coordinators for posting. Please note that I created the content for the posts about Open Education Week but our Student Technology Assistants (STAs) created the final design.
