Case Manager and Length of Stay
Case Manager and Length of Stay
The goals of this project is to support the decision making on the interventions for the case management process improvement in order to reduce the patients' length of hospital stay.
In the health system I was working with, case managers were expected to act upon they received an order for their follow up. In my analysis, I showed that the case manager acted independently from the orders they received. Specifically, their follow up activities randomly distributed through out patients' length of stay. This result highlights the need for a deeper understanding of the case managers decision making, as well as their daily patient flows, in order to identify ways to make their workflow more efficient.
