Week 6-8: Egypt is our country of study for this unit. Each kindergarten class studies a country in Africa. Next year in 1st grade they will study a country in Asia.
Use your research skills to learn about the culture of ancient or modern day Egypt. (getepic has many great books for you!) Use the strategies you have learned about non-fiction writing to help you with your book. Remember your writing conventions (capital letters, spaces, punctuation, etc) as you write what you have learned. I have attached some pages that you are familiar with to write your book about Egypt.
Use what you have learned about Egypt to create your own project to be used for virtual international night. Some examples include:
~a new mosaic like we created when we manipulated matter
~a clay animal that might live in Egypt
~hieroglyphic writings or pictures
~drawings or pictures that represent the culture
~ anything you can think of!
Be creative with what you have learned, the possibilities are endless.
Add to your portfolio for your social studies grade and so we can have everyone represented in the showcase.
