Prayer of the Month

In school, we have a new focus prayer every month. The prayer for July is the Magnificat.

Why not share the prayer with your families? Think carefully about what the words mean to you.

Week commencing 13th July, 2020

Key Questions for learning this week...

  • Can I understand the purpose of prayer?

  • Can I write my own prayer or set of bidding prayers?

Your activities

  • This week, we come to the end of the school year. I know you will be starting to look ahead to not only the summer holidays, but to Year 6.

  • Think about why we pray. There are many reasons but this is a great video to watch for a recap.

  • This week, write a long prayer, or a set of bidding prayers. You may want to give thanks for anything that has happened this year. You may want to ask for help for yourself or for others. You may even think ahead to Year 6 and write a prayer to guide you through the last year of primary school.

  • Take great care with the presentation of your prayer. Make it look lovely. You can decorate/colour if you wish.

  • The last thing to do is to share the prayer with your family.

Week commencing 6th July, 2020

Key Questions for learning this week...

  • Can I think about promises I make?

  • Can I identify the promise made by God in the story of Noah?

Your activities

  • This week, all of you activities can be found on a web page. It is a lovely website and I would like you to work through each tab. It will link to songs, poems, scripture and will ask lots of reflective questions as you work through it.

  • You may want to make some notes as you work through it.

  • The suggested activity mentions a Class Contract. I know this is hard to do while you are at home but please do try and come up with ideas you think should be on a contract.

  • Final reflection: what other sacrifices can you think of that followers of Christ sometimes need to make?

Watch the video of the Bible story here.

You can find the story here if you don't have a Bible.

Our Virtues

The two new virtues for the first half of the Summer term are eloquent and truthful.

We are eloquent when we use our creative gifts to say things in a way that is interesting, truthful, memorable and faithful.

God wants us to be truthful in all we do. Being honest and truthful means we are living the way God wants us to. We should stand up for the truth.

Your challenge: Look out and notice ways in which you (or your families) are demonstrating the virtues.
