Title: University of Minnesota pillow
Objective: Create a pillow using an embroidery and sewing machine.
If there’s holes in my shirt, or If you want to make the legs of your pants shorter, these are all issues that can be with these machines. This section of my portfolio goes over the instructions on how to operate an embroidery, and sewing machine to create a U of M pillow.
Materials and tools used
-Embroidery and sewing machine
-Power cable
- T, B
- stabilizer
-scissors
-usb with wanted design
-Thread and Bobbin
- Chalk and grid
- pins
-foot pedal
-fluff
-Use chalk and draw a cross on the fabric
- layer the bottom, stabilizer, fabric and top.
- place the layers on the embroidery machine.
- follow the steps on the machine to thread it and place the bobbin in the bottom department and thread it as well.
- lower the leg of the machine and plug it in to find your design.
- Turn it on and wait 12 minutes for the machine to finish.
- afterwards use the second piece of fabric with a sewing machine and go over it leaving the bottom portion open. Stuff the pillow and use a needle and thread to hand sew it close.
The final product is something I didn’t think I could do mostly because of the steps it took and needing to make sure the bobbin had enough or learning new words, and even not getting the 6 steps to thread the machine. I learned how to hand sew, how to sew with the machine in a straight line which is harder than it looks and threading the machines. In my opinion threading it is the step you want to pay most attention to because of how easy it is to mess up. Something I definitely need to improve is the steps of threading, and what I want to do is to try a harder sewing task like making a tote bag.
