Goldy

Objective: Using the laser cutter, burn Goldy's face into wood.

Materials and tools

.125 inch square
Google drive
Adobe illustrator
UPC
Laser cutter

Process

Using the url from google docs click the link and download the file
Clicking the downloads form your downloads, it will take you to Adobe Illustrator
Press file from the left top corner and print. PLS6.75 should be the printer and press print.
Open UCP application and goldy will be there
Put the .125 wood inside the laser cutter, make sure the ventilation and machine are turned on
By using settings and material database you’ll be able to choose the material used. In this instance it was wood, once applied I pressed the green start button.

Reflections

The final project is a circular cutout of the university's mascot. Some things I learned is the need of having ventilation which keeps harm from reaching the air, and from collecting in the machine. Something new was the use of Adobe Illustrator and Upc. A personal takeaway is to not turn the computer off while laser cutting... Some improvements for the time are definitely speed because now that I know the steps I can definitely reduce the time it takes reading the guide.
