About Me
Hello! I am an applied linguist exploring the intersection of language, culture and space, both physical and digital. I received my PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Melbourne in 2021, specialising in Applied Linguistics and Educational Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, and Migrant Cultural Studies. My research draws on linguistic ethnography, social semiotics and multimodal discourse analysis to explore how language displays in public spaces are indicative of political ideologies, social relations and cultural values. I am particularly interested languages and cultures related to Chinese communities.
I am currently a Lecturer at Federation University Australia. I am also an Affiliate Researcher of the ARC Centre for Automated Decision Making and Society.
