To contact our after-hours staff for public health threats and emergencies please call our main number (828-682-6118) and follow the instructions.
Our health department staff investigates all reports of communicable diseases to determine if there is a risk of spread and takes measures to control the risk. It is required for physicians and laboratories to report diseases.
Our communicable disease services include:
Testing for and evaluation of disease
Treatment of identified infection and provision of protective measures for family or other close contacts.
