East | 東

East (東) is Lay's 3rd digital EP released on 15th October 2021. The EP contains a total of 4 songs, all of which are inspired by depictions of myths and legends on the Dunhuang Murals.

The first teaser, with the new EP name and track titles was released on 7th October 2021, on Lay's birthday. 

Prior to its release, it was announced that fans who had bought all four of his previous albums - Lose Control, 02 Sheep, Namanana, and Lit - on the same digital Chinese music platform using the same user ID, and completed his first "circle" will be able to unlock the album for free when it is released.

The EP's pre-release track '三昧真火 / Samadhi Real Fire' was released on midnight, 7th October 2021, on Lay's 30th birthday. 

On the same day that the EP was released, Lay and Lay Studio also posted images from the digital album, as well as a 40-second visualiser for the EP's title track '飞天 / Flying Apsaras'.
