In 2020, Lay released his fourth studio album, Lit, through a two-part EP. The first EP was released on 1st June, and the second was released on 21st July.
The album's digital pre-orders surpassed 1.5 million within seven minutes, and subsequently went on to sell 2.5 million digital copies, making Lay the best-selling artist in China in 2020. The album also reached number one on iTunes charts in twenty-one countries.
