I first trained as a (medieval) historian working mostly on medieval and early modern texts, for the most part in manuscript form. I work with various colleagues on editing, translating, and analysing various corpora of ancient texts.
Editing ancient texts is of the upmost importance for historical linguistics, as our only access to earlier phases of the language is through such texts. Translating texts for the modern public is also important, either to give access to Occitan texts that readers of French would not understand without traslation, or to give an access to students to modern culture in the Occitan language.
