This was my first published translation, of an Occitan collection of poems by Olivier Lamarque into French, in 2006.
In 2007 the Breton publisher Yoran Embanner decided to translate an album of Gaston into all the main regional languages of France, and, together with Stèu Lombardo, I got to translate it into Occitan. Our choice was rather daring as we decided to have each character speak into differing varieties of the language.
I am part of a project to translate this book into French to make it accessible to the people it talked about. It describes life in the south of France as discovered by an Englishman who settles in a tiny village of the Hérault, and gives stories about his and his wife's daily life with the villagers.
I was part of a team producing Occitan subtitles for the English speaking film Sounder, together with Louise Esher and Maria-Pèire Vernhièiras in 2010.
