Ragni Insignia
The first town that Fruma recruits will step upon their arrival in The Wynn province. The town is a fortress that has endured many attacks from the ever-increasing corrupted hordes that had always wandered outside of its towering walls. Being a place where the great hero, Bob, was born, the town culture is built around this individual as a figure to worship and raise troop morale. Ragni’s army is known for its courage and unbreakable will that specializes in defense, bolstered by heavy armor and unmatched archery.
Citizens of Ragni
By the standards of the province’s society, Ragni’s citizens are taught how to fight from a young age, due to how easy it is to encounter the corrupted outside of the walls. Beside guard or military-related jobs, farmers would take up the majority of Ragni’s population. Surrounding Ragni are various farmlands, the most well-known being Katoa Ranch.
The Ragni society is very accepting of villagers. They can be often seen as farmers or mercenaries. Even their current king is a villager, as he got adopted into the royal family as a child. Later on, he proved himself to be a caring king and won over the hearts of the people of Ragni, and improved the people’s view of the villagers.
"Ragni's Last Stand"
Ragni's Sewer, the place where Bob was born
Ragni’s culture has a heavy emphasis on the great hero of Wynn, Bob. Born in the sewers near Ragni, Bob was a symbol of pride for the people of Ragni and is worshiped as a saint. Many of his tales and origins have been archived in the library within the castle where it has long been hidden away, waiting for someone to discover them.
Bob is the savior of the province as he accomplished many achievements to protect the common people within the province.
His origins can be dated back to 854 AP when his mother gave birth to him and died soon after. He was then adopted by a woman named Momo. In his childhood, he was taught by Momo and shunned by the people for his grayish skin.
In 866 AP, Bob was forced to take his adopted mother's life as she succumbed to corruption after the horde found its way to the city. Before taking her life, she told Bob to meet a man who would lead him to the four great masters of the province, where he would be taught the art of weapons and become a powerful warrior to protect the province.
After completing his training in 886 AP, Bob came back to Ragni while Bak’al, The Corrupted Warmaster, besieged the town. With the skills he had been accumulating and vigorous training for 20 years, Bob defeated Bak’al and his army. This defeat caused Bak’al to never appear in the province again, weakening the corruption forces and allowing the province to heal for many years to come. This event caused the birth of Bob’s legendary tales where he would later make many achievements over a long period and make a name for himself within and outside the province.
In 984 AP, Bob was supposedly killed by a pack of wolves, as ridiculous as the story may sound. One year later, Bob’s tomb was constructed within the Nesaak forest, where people still mourn for the greatest hero being lost.
The military of Ragni, known for their unfaltering defenders, are the very best at protecting the fortress, being one of the last standing settlements during the corruption war. The fortress walls always have archers overseeing, while the gate is being defended by guards. Some parts of the military were also stationed on the outskirts of the province, escorting any recruits from Fruma into Ragni.
Defender, Incorrupt, and Fortress Armors
Ragni guards are skilled close-quarter fighters, fit for defending the outer walls of Ragni, while also having decent archery skills to protect the town’s walls from above and weaken the approaching enemy forces. Their armor is primarily made from metal, chainmail, and leather, allowing protection against corrupteds and more.
The Royal Guard is the elite of the Ragni military, stationed within the castle protecting the king from all kinds of threats. Their spears are imported from Gavel and Detlas, as well as being magically enhanced.
Ragni also seems to have evidence of knights within their ranks, but the records are rather obscure, Enzan being the only known individual to bear the title before his retirement.
Unique to Ragni, there is heavy armor that is only used by a few veterans or very gifted individuals. The fortress is an armor set that sacrifices all of the user's mobility for a huge defense to the point average zombies would damage their limbs before being able to leave scratches on the armor. The admiral of the Ragni army is known to use this armor to lead his men.
With corrupteds being raging undead that rush at anyone at sight to kill them by sheer aggression and numbers, the weapons that the military uses are focused on long-range combat and preventing corrupteds from getting close to avoid having unnecessary casualties.
Crossbows are used by all military forces within the province. With how many soldiers die in each battle, training archery proved to be inefficient, making crossbows more favored due to their accessibility. However, bows are still used within the army and by some citizens for self-defense though in much lesser numbers.
Ammunition is also worth mentioning as many arrow types were created specifically to fight against the hordes. Besides standard type, bomb arrows are commonly used to kill clusters of corrupted undead in a single shot or poison arrows to assassinate their leader. Some settlements may even utilize magic to enhance their ammunition to be even more effective against Corruption.
When close-range combat becomes unavoidable, the most favored melee weapons are spears and other long-reach weapons like tridents, war hammers. Some militaries can be seen utilizing swords and daggers to suit their strategy and tactic. They are also used by the common people for self-defense.
