TESTING
Every DECA Cluster Exam is 100 multiple-choice questions: EVERY SINGLE QUESTION IS BASED OFF WHAT IS KNOWN AS A PERFORMANCE INDICATOR. Performance indicators are DECA's word for subtopics, and they are organized into larger topics known as instructional areas. The amount of questions that test each instructional area per cluster exam can be seen in the tables below. You should prioritize the instructional areas that appear most often, and the performance indicators that appear most often within those instructional areas.
Instructional area distribution per cluster exam type:
Generally, there are 3 types of questions on DECA exams:
These simply test if you are familiar with a specific vocabulary word, like "fixed expenses."
Most of these questions can be done without studying and instead with common sense.
Ex. What should the business owner do?
Commit fraud
Report the issue
These questions are easily identifiable by their length: they usually include a scenario, and require you to have knowledge on the relevant vocabulary to be able to then apply that term to the given scenario.
