The WSU Department of Physics & Astronomy is medium sized with 17 Pullman-based research faculty and a strong focus on both research and education. The Department has about 100 undergraduate majors and 60 graduate students working on experimental and theoretical physics research across a broad range of fields, including

Our graduate program provides students with assistantships, medical and dental insurance, access the recreation center, on-campus mental health, pharmacy and optometry services, and the opportunity to participate in free professional development activities throughout the year. WSU is located in Pullman, Washington, 10 miles from University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. These neighboring towns offer a wide variety of activities for graduate students and their families, including Roller Derby, Ice Skating, Ice Hockey, Farmer’s Markets, local wineries and breweries, and more than 13 running and biking trails covering 4224 miles.
