Dr. Sean Bradley brings over 20 years of extensive experience in the music industry as a solo performer and director of ensembles. His expertise as a director is evident in his ability to develop, enhance, and establish successful wind band programs across all educational levels. Dr. Bradley has earned a distinguished reputation as an accomplished arranger and drill writer for marching bands. Additionally, he has served as a clarinetist and woodwind specialist for numerous orchestras, wind bands, and musical theater productions.
As an educator, Dr. Bradley has enjoyed a diverse array of experiences. He has successfully built band programs from the ground up at the college, high school, and homeschool levels. His ensembles have consistently achieved superior performance ratings and garnered top placements in events sanctioned by OMEA, OIPA, FMEA, BOA, and WGI. Many of his students have been selected as all-state players, pursued music degrees at the collegiate level, and are currently teaching around the globe.
As an instrumentalist, Dr. Bradley has collaborated with many esteemed organizations, including the Central Ohio Symphony, Southeastern Ohio Symphony, Capital/Bexley Orchestra, Heisey Wind Band, and Weathervane Playhouse. A particularly memorable highlight of his career was performing on a Grammy-nominated album alongside the Boston Brass. Furthermore, as an arranger, Dr. Bradley has had the privilege of creating arrangements and writing marching band shows for various schools over the past two decades. It has been a true honor for him to collaborate with educators and their students, witnessing the growth and success of their programs while contributing to a brighter future in music education.
Chris Ferrell (Atlanta, Georgia) is the Supervisor of Instrumental Music for the Cobb County School District in metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia. The Cobb County School District has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education 21 times and over 34,000 students in the district are involved in performing arts activities within the district. Before moving to administration, he taught at Hillgrove High School in Cobb County, as well as at L.D. Bell High School, Harwood Junior High School, and Central Junior High School in Texas.
Ferrell holds the Doctor of Philosophy of Instrumental Music Education and the Master of Education of Music Education from Auburn University, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Ferrell has received multiple Citations of Excellence from the National Band Association and holds memberships in Phi Beta Mu International School Bandmaster’s Fraternity, NAfME, NBA, CBDNA, and GMEA. He is active as a clinician and evaluator for Music for All, as well as having conducted and performed as a soloist with honor groups at the local and state levels, as well as university ensembles across the United States. Ferrell is married to Shelley Ferrell, a band director at Lovinggood Middle School, and is father to three wonderful children, Katherine, Madailein, and Mason.
Bryen currently serves as the Assistant Conductor of the Circle City Orchestra in Indianapolis, IN, and has conducted orchestras and bands throughout the United States and Canada, including the Windsor Symphony Orchestra (C.A.), Yakima Symphony Orchestra (W.A.), Philharmonic Orchestral of Indianapolis (IN), Fort Wayne Philharmonic Players Association (IN), and the Old Crown Brass Band (IN).
Bryen Warfield’s fervent advocacy for music education and its transformative role in developing the whole child is truly inspiring. He has assisted and led highly successful band and orchestral programs in Indiana (Whiteland Community H.S., Homestead H.S., Shortridge IB H.S.). Many of Bryen’s ensembles have been honored, awarded, and recognized locally, state, and nationally. At Homestead High School, the Symphony Orchestra was invited to perform as a featured ensemble at the 2020 Indiana Music Educators Association Professional Development Conference. The Homestead Wind Ensemble was one of the consortium members for Brian Balmage’s “Love and Light,” Timothy Mahr’s “Urgent Voices,” and Parker Long’s “Symphony No. 1”. Bryen’s active career in the pageantry arts as an adjudicator, educator, and clinician for high schools, colleges, and drum corps nationwide is a testament to his unwavering commitment. He is the Brass Co-Caption Head of the Sacramento Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps. Before that, he worked with the brass teams of the Bluecoats, Santa Clara Vanguard, Columbus Saints, and Cincinnati Tradition.
He earned his Bachelor of Music in Tuba Performance from the University of Louisville, studying under the guidance of esteemed professors John Jones, Darryl Johnson, and Kimcherie Lloyd. He further honed his skills and knowledge by pursuing a Master of Music in Wind Conducting from Ohio State University, where he was mentored by Dr. Russel Mikkelson and Dr. Scott A. Jones.
Ken has been involved with virtually every facet of the marching activity -- performer, instructor, event manager, journalist, clinician, and judge. He pursued his passion for marching band from a young age and produced his first full-blown community parade at the age of 16. His judging career spans more than 30 years. Ken has served on judging panels at parade and field competitions in 21 states and Canada, from Minnesota to Mississippi and from Oregon to West Virginia. His affiliations include the Central States Judges Association (CSJA) and the Tri-State Judging Association.
His work as a color guard designer for 11 years earned numerous top guard awards and brought him to distinguished events such as the Fiesta Bowl Parade and Tournament of Roses Parade. He marched with the DCI finalist Sky Ryders Drum & Bugle Corps and was on the founding board of directors for Music City Drum & Bugle Corps. Ken was the force behind the Vikingland Band Festival in Alexandria, Minnesota, helping develop it into the state’s parade marching championship.
In 1996 Ken founded the pioneering website MARCHING.COM, a popular source for marching-related events, links, resources, news, and photos. The website and its social media channels provide a dedicated and positive voice for the marching arts. MARCHING.COM is a media partner with major events and organizations, including BOA, DCI, and WGI, and is a frequent contributor to Halftime Magazine. Ken’s travel for MARCHING.COM keeps him abreast of current trends, the regional variety, and timeless artistry of the marching activity across the U.S., Canada and Europe.
Mark Culp, is from Cold Spring, Kentucky, and boasts over 25 years of experience as a designer, clinician, and adjudicator in the marching arts. He is an alumnus of Northern Kentucky University and a former marching member of both the Golden Knights Drum and Bugle Corps and the Pride of Cincinnati Winter Guard.
Under his guidance, numerous units have achieved success at both regional and state levels. He co-founded Pageantry, Inc. and has served as a judge for state and circuit championship events across various states, including Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, West Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Mississippi, and Florida.
Currently, Mark holds the position of judging coordinator for the CITSA summer band circuit in Indiana. He also provides consulting services to bands in the Greater Cincinnati area and frequently adjudicates at KMEA and ISSMA events. In addition to his work in the marching arts, he is actively involved in the Cincinnati theater community and is a proud member of the internationally competitive Southern Gateway Barbershop Chorus and Velocity Quartet.
Originally from Humboldt, Tennessee, Mr. Tate currently serves as the music advisor/consultant for the middle and high school band programs in the Gibson County Special School District. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Director of Bands at Gibson County High School in Dyer, Tennessee from 2006 until 2021. During his tenure the band consistently received superior ratings as both a marching and concert band. In 2011 (Division II), 2014 (Division I), 2017 (Division I), and 2018 (Division I) the Gibson County High School Band was named the TN Marching Band State Champions. Under his direction, the band has performed a standstill concert at the Statue of Liberty (2010), marched in the Electric Parade in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom (2014), and marched in the nation’s longest running parade, The 257th Annual NYC’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade (2018). One of the most prestigious performances took place in January of 2022 when the band, under Tate’s direction, marched in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena. In addition, the “Marching Pioneers” were the recipients of the “Marching Band of the Year Award” from the Tennessee Music Awards in 2018.
Mr. Tate has consulted and taught numerous high schools, colleges, and drum corps in Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky, Wisconsin, and Alabama; including but not limited to serving as the Associate Director of Bands at Bethel College (now Bethel University, McKenzie, TN), serving as the visual caption head for the Memphis Sound Drum and Bugle Corps, and serving on the visual staff with the Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps and the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps.
Mr. Tate is an active adjudicator and clinician throughout the United States. His professional memberships include NAfME, WTSBOA, and the Tennessee Bandmasters Association. He is currently on the active adjudicator roster for Drum Corps International (DCI), Winter Guard International (WGI), Bands of America (BOA), and numerous other local and regional associations/circuits across the United States. He is a proud alum of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and a former advisor for Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma Music Fraternity and Sorority. He currently resides in Jackson with his wife Erika, daughters Katherine & Cassidy, and their dog Allie.
A native of Carrollton, Georgia, Jonathan is currently an active national adjudicator and small business owner in Boiling Springs, South Carolina. Before opening his business in 2017, he was director and visual designer of the indoor and outdoor percussion ensembles at Dorman High School, leading it to competitive success at numerous local, regional, and national events. Notable examples include making the WGI World Championships finals, and winning the CIPA Open Class Championships every year from 2006 to 2016. In 2016, Jonathan served as Percussion Caption Head for the Spirit Of Atlanta drum and bugle corps. 2013 - 2017 Jonathan helped create Civitas Independent from Rock Hill, South Carolina, who took 4th place at the WGI World Championships, before moving to Open class and becoming a perennial finalist powerhouse.
Before moving to South Carolina, Jonathan lived in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he was founder and director of 3-time WGI medalist Velocity Percussion Ensemble, and taught Dalton high school, Soddy-Daisy high school, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s marching percussion ensembles. Jonathan has also taught and written for numerous other ensembles - including Spirit Of Atlanta drum and bugle corps, Magic Of Orlando drum and bugle corps, Scenic City drum and bugle corps, West Georgia College, as well as numerous Georgia, Tennessee, North, and South Carolina high school bands. A former marching member of Spirit, Jonathan is proud to have performed on bass drum and snare drum from 1992-1995, before joining the percussion staff in 1996, and 2016. Jonathan currently resides in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Phillip brings an array of world class experience to the James F. Byrnes visual and guard programs. He is a graduate of James F. Byrnes High School and was a member of the ‘Rebel Regiment’ and Byrnes “Indigo” from 2002-2006. After high school, he was a member of several DCI and WGI performing units: ‘The Cast’ Winterguard in 2007 & 2008; ‘Carolina Crown’ Drum Corps from 2008-2010; ‘Crown Guard’ Winterguard in 2009 & 2010; and ‘Pride of Cincinnati’ Winterguard in 2012. He also performed with the ‘Pride of Cincinnati Dance Ensemble’ in 2014.
Additionally, Phillip has directed several high school programs in South Carolina and Indiana: Chapman High School from 2006-2008; Mauldin High School from 2008-2012; and Greenfield-Central High School (Indiana) from 2012-2015. Furthermore, Phillip has also been on staff with his alumnus corps ‘Carolina Crown’ in 2014, and has been a guest instructor with other high school and Independent Guard programs throughout the Midwest and Southeast regions.
Phillip currently resides in Greenville, SC, serves as a Supervisor at RS Hospitality outside of color guard duties, and loves to spend time with his seven year old nephew, Quinten.
