A. Circulation Services
A service that grants lending privileges to clients. It involves the processes and systems of managing the borrowing and returning of library materials.
Reserve Service
It allows the client to reserve rare and in-demand materials.
Document Delivery Service
This refers to the library's service, wherein library materials are reproduced and sent to the requester.
Reprographic Service
This allows clients to reproduce books, journals, pamphlets, and other materials.
Interlibrary Loan
It is a cooperative arrangement among WPU libraries that allows books and other materials from one campus library to be loaned out to a patron from another campus library.
B. Reference Services
It provides assistance to the clients in searching for their information needs by accessing library resources or releasing referrals to those who can help them, whether it is a quick fact check in deep research or guidance on utilizing library resources. It could be delivered through Reference Desk and Virtual Reference Service (via email, chat, and social media).
Reference Desk. It is an area in the library where librarians and section staff are ready to answer clients' queries on various topics, ranging from research inquiries to findings and specific resources. Library personnel with the librarian supervision of the Reference Desk possess expertise in utilizing library catalogs, databases, and other research tools.
Virtual Reference Service. It is reference service through online platforms such as email, chat, or video conferencing. It provides convenient access to expert assistance, particularly for users who cannot visit the library physically. It has two services, Library Online Reference Assistance (accomplished through internet-assisted technologies) and Library Phone Reference Assistance (accomplished through text and call).
Referral Service
This service refers to the assistance given to the clients by directing or guiding them to the right information they are seeking. Forinstance, they can be led to the right shelf where they can find information that can satisfy their needs. This service includes referring the clients to other agencies or libraries where the clients could have access to information that is not present in the library.
Current Awareness Service
It informs users of the latest information updates or new acquisitions by posting them on display boards, social media platforms, and websites. It is designed to keep individuals, researchers, and professionals informed of the latest developments, trends, and news in their areas of interest.
Selective Dissemination of Information
It provides relevant and personalized information to clients based on their specific interests, demands, and preferences. It updates clients' information needs through publications, research papers, news articles, or other materials that could answer their information needs.
Library Instructions
A library service that conducts seminars, workshops, and other instructional and informational activities that the library can deliver. It includes orientation and promotion of library services, collections, and facilities.
o Library Orientation. It provides services to introduce clients to library resources and facilities and guides them on how to use these services.
o Library Tour. Clients can request a tour inside the library. It usually comes after the orientation. It is where the clients can physically experience the library facilities, services, and collections and even personally meet the personnel behind the library operations.
o Library Talk. A service that provides seminars, workshops, and talks about library and information-related topics like crediting sources, information access, and research tips.
Plagiarism checker
A service in the library that can check the similarity index among articles, projects, essays, and other written narrative outputs of clients.
