Millenia ago, the Kokkori were once an extremely powerful force on Crecia, and settled all across the continent and were highly advanced. However at some time during the height of the species, a disaster struck, killing most of the species and leaving a small number to attempt to rebuild what they lost. While the fallen Kokkori civilizations have left artifacts and technology across the known world, the remainder of the species resides in the rocky ruins of Estebar.
The Kokkori were once an extremely powerful force on Crecia, at the time were the only known sapient species to themselves. They settled on every continent and were highly advanced. The species, however, was divided both culturally and biologically between castes determined by occupation and purpose to the society. This made it so that different sects of Kokkori could be very different from each other.
Some time at the height of the early Kokkori civilization, a massive pandemic spread through the ranks, killing 90% of the high ranking members of society. The struggling race attempted to live on by finding cures to the disease, however those who were able to look for a cure were also the most susceptible to the plague. Discovering signs of the incoming Starfall, the remaining upper class members attempted to salvage what they could of the race by putting the species in cryostasis in Kokkori temples littered across Crecia. Those who survived the plague were preserved, and all those deemed unworthy were left out to fend for themselves.
The effects of the Starfall created an Ice Age across the planet, eventually killing most Kokkori. Those not in cryostasis succumbed to the environment, and over time many of the temples could not last through the long winter.
When the remaining Kokkori awoke millennia later, the majority of the survivors were drones, part of the working class who did not know how to lead for themselves, while the upper ranks struggled to fit in the new world they awoke to. Those who survived outside the temples were few, but mostly nomadic, unable to hold territory from other powers long after taking it. Some have been known to outgrow their biology, back to a natural state, but it is not perfect.
The species has been almost at a standstill since then, attempting to regroup and grow, however they are biologically held back from their full potential.
The Kokkori are industrious and philosophical
The grand majority of Kokkori that remain after their Awakening are from the working classes of their ancient society, with each generation slowly working towards their once great place in the world.
A large effort has gone into rediscovering the lost past of the species, especially among the Vyara Company who prioritizes finding and reclaiming lost Kokkori artifacts and valuables above all else, and are decoding the lost Kokkori languages.
Specialties:
The old Kokkori empires made heavy use of slaves in their kingdoms, going so far as to genetically alter their own species to make certain people more suited for grunt work while aristocrats moved the species forward in their own ways.
The oldest still running trade organization in Crecia. The Vyara Company is built from the remnants of an old corporation in the old Kokkori age, and during the Kokkori Resurgence it picked up from where it left off. The headquarters are in Valarus, and since then it has spread to include powers from the Escorrasi and Caralai with minor involvement from other races.
The Caralai provide goods, scouts and knowledge, and exchange the free travel of Caralai monks around the world for discounted good to trade in The Ahama.
In recent years the Escorrasi have become the major powerhouse of the Vyara, providing the most men, boats, ports and diplomatic ties across Crecia. The Vyara is sometimes used by the Escorrasi to broker deals and make trades without the 4 nations being directly involved, as it is still seen as a Kokkori organization.
While the Vyara Company alone does not match other trading companies, such as the Escorrasi Kingdom, it does have ties in places that no others do. For example, the Vyara are one of only two groups that can freely enter Kapura waters at Hua Tutura, the other being diplomatic emissaries from Morningstar. As such, the Vyara exchanges its lack of goods in quantity for goods that are in low supply but high demand, effectively holding a monopoly over several markets.

At its height the Kokkori had caste systems where people were divided both culturally and biologically, to determine one's purpose in society. So a large part of the species were for purely grunt work while the smartest thrived and advanced the species even further.
The disaster that struck hit the upper classes hardest, and due to the strong biological differences between the castes, the lower classes were not nearly as affected. So in the present time, mostly descendants of the lower classes remain who are biologically held back from their full potential.
They still try and perform rigorous testing in the youth to find capable members of the species that can help them, but most who are smart enough usually leave and work for other powers in occupations like mercenaries.
The universe was created by the only omnipotent being ever to exist who woke up and in the first seconds of his consciousness created the universe as we know it before destroying himself in fear that no one should wield this absolute power, not even himself. It is believed that the remnants of his destruction formed into the mana veins and magic throughout all universes.
The main Kokkori religion relies upon the belief that the world was jumpstarted by 12 extremely powerful demons who were the first to travel to this world. It is unknown if the previous Kokkori civilization had any data backing up this claim or if it is just part of their mythology. These beings known as the Creators or Architects are the only known demons to be able to travel between worlds freely without restriction. It is unknown what happened to them.
They are:
The foundations of this religion survived past the golden age of the Kokkori and are the basis for prominent religions for the Aolctic, Bjorsine, Caralai, Escorrasi, Human, Khalikar and Ura.
