Araylith is a crystalline metal that is a unique natural occurence in the Arcsan system. In its off state, all forms of Araylith are gray with a purple tint. It's reactive to Worbal energy and is widely used in everyday technology. Aligning with their affinity and tradition for melee combat and dueling, they moved to forging handheld weapons out of Araylith. It comes in many forms, some natural, and some artificial. Although some naturally forming Araylith can also be artificially produced, many forms can only be found naturally. Similarly, some forms have never been found naturally and have been theorized to only be possible through artificial production. Each form can have different effects when charged with Worbal energy.
This was the first type of Araylith to be artificially created. It glows a light blue when charged. A-0* has never been discovered forming naturally and is theorized to only be possible through artificial means.
Based off of A-95*, A-0* was meant to be a variant that could create holograms that could interact with the physical world like A-94* and A-93. It does succeed this goal and maintains the high fidelity of A-95*, however, at the cost of significantly increased power draw and the loss of color variability in the images it produces.
This means it's nonoptimal for shielding or consumer tech, however, it's found use in the medical field where it can replicate damaged organs and tissue in Worbals to keep them alive until they can receive medical help. Implants that can do this are sold by multiple companies, most notably Redai Holotech, and are powered directly by the Worbal. The high power draw of A-0* limits the amount of time one can keep an implant running, but it's enough time for emergency services to take over and has saved millions of lives over the decades of its use.
Araylith-22* glows pink when charged and will extend the range of a Worbal’s electric-sense. Combined with some certain Worbal tech, it’s used for sensors in starships and hover vehicles. A-22* is artificially produced and has never been used in Worbal weaponry.
A-24* glows red-orange when charged. This type becomes a magnet when charged and is commonly used in railgun weaponry. The strength of its magnetic properties scale with the amount of energy it receives. A-24 can be found naturally or created artificially.
Araylith-43, aka “Reverb Metal”. A-43 can be both found naturally or produced artificially. It glows yellow when charged. This Araylith absorbs kinetic energy and can expend it later. Duelists use this to take energy from blocks and either use it all at once or slowly let it out to swing faster overall. A-43 is commonly used in blunt weaponry.
A-45 glows orange when charged. This type is widely used in Worbal electronics. It helps channel the Worbals energy into a usable constant source that a computer can use. It’s also why many Worbal electronics can only be used by Worbals. A-45 can form naturally or be artificially created.
Araylith-67, aka "Portal Metal", is a type that affects dimensions. It glows a light purple with light blue specs when charged. The exact functions of this metal can be extremely hard to understand and even harder to explain. As such, the Worbals themselves only have a basic understanding of its uses. Currently, it's used in their FTL drives to jump dimensions and travel large distances. The average Worbal ship only requires a pound or two of A-67 to be effective. Their megaship, Horizon, uses 132.76 kilograms of A-67 to achieve it's jump range, which is unknown outside the Worbals. Portal Metal has been used in weaponry with varying success. Some go missing after their first use, presumably trapped in an alternate dimension. Some, such as Sirius Sevalra, have been able to perfect the art of handheld dimensional travel. Although it isn't outlawed, it's highly recommended that A-67 be left to FTL drives and should not be forged into weapons. Even after all the research and testing the Worbals have conducted on A-67, they've only uncovered the surface level of its mysteries.
Araylith-71*, also known as Glass Metal, goes slightly transparent when charged instead of glowing.
This Araylith can glow multiple different colors depending on how it’s made. This type has never been found forming naturally and was artificially created for cosmetic use. It has no other effect other than a glow similar in brightness to average Worbal Bioluminescence. It’s often used in more expensive clothing and accessories. Tailored A-78* is even more expensive, but is specifically matched to the Worbal in question’s bioluminescent hue.
Araylith-89 can counteract gravity when charged. It's been used to create anti-gravity technology in Worbal vehicle designs. Although it has been forged into weaponry in the past with the intention of being extremely light to handle, it hasn't proven very effective. This Araylith glows a dark purple when charged.
Arayltih-92 on its own is pretty unremarkable. However, used in combination with specific Worbal tech, it can create “Force Engines”. These engines are used in most starships to allow them to move freely in the air with no pollution, byproduct, or danger to those near the engine nozzle. It’s also been adapted for use in high quality hoverbikes for a faster and lighter bike over the more common Fusion Thrusters. A-92 glows white when charged and forms naturally. Although attempts have been made to artificially make it, none have succeeded yet.
A-93 is used for personal shielding. Though weaker than A-94, it can be easily form-fitted to the Worbal frame with a series of implants throughout the body. As these implants are powered by the Worbal, and blows to this shield consume more energy, modern duels often use the breaking of the shield to indicate the end of a fight.
A-94* is used in ship shielding. Though it's stronger than A-93, it's also harder to work with, often projecting the form of a sphere or ellipsoid, and draws significantly more power than a Worbal can consistently produce, making it nonoptimal for personal shielding but ideal for high resistance starship shielding. It glows purple when charged and can be both found naturally and produced artificially.
A-95* is what A-0* was based off of. It has no definite color when charged and can be both found naturally or produced artificially. It's used in consumer holographic technologies as the images it can produce do not interact with the physical world. However, it's low power draw and high full color fidelity make it perfect for holographic communications, entertainment, and displays.
A-119 glows red when charged. It can both be found naturally or produced artificially. When A-119 is charged and moved quickly through the atmosphere, it causes the air to ignite in a chain reaction. Changing voltage and amperage can allow the Worbal to control the range and width of this chain reaction. Although A-119 glows red, it is not hot to the touch. A-119 does not have any widely accepted practical uses and is mainly forged into weaponry. It is the most popular choice for duelists as it is one of the few types to have ranged abilities.
Araylith-122, aka "Void Metal", is a type of Araylith that can act like programmable matter when charged. When charged, it's black with yellow specs, giving it the appearance of space, of which are the origins of its nickname. It's a one of a kind form with the only recorded discovery being made by Rerias Riyu Sevalra on an asteroid at the outskirts of Arcsan. Riyu has refined and formed the Araylith into his personal weapons, of which he still uses today.
Araylith-136*, known as Datalisk, is entirely artificial. A-136* is a crystal grown from a combination of other Arayliths in an energy intensive process. Datalisk Araylith is used in storing mass amounts of information. The storage space of the crystal is related to its size and purity but with diminishing returns as the crystal gets larger.
Araylith-154 glows green when charged. It’s similar to Araylith-92 in that it can generate a force. However, it can’t be scaled up using tech like A-92 can and it can only generate enough to move itself and light objects proportional to the size of the A-154 shard. It’s commonly used in dueling for its ability to be moved without being touched. Combined with specialized MindLink tech, it can be used to create “floating weaponry”. A-154 is a naturally occuring Araylith.
