Just like any widespread species, there are a wide range of cultures across their entirety. There are however a few common practices.
Greeting one another is similar to a handshake. In professional settings, both Worbals raise one hand and place them together. No electricity flows between the two. In more intimate settings, either between packmates, friends, or a just more relaxed position, Worbals raise both of their hands and place them on each other’s like a double high five. They then let electricity flow counter-clockwise in the circle they’ve created.
Clothing is optional in Worbal society. Both casual and formal clothing exists. In certain work related situations or high-class events, clothes will be required. More often, Worbals will wear nothing at all or a strap or belt of some kind to hold a sheath for Araylith weaponry.
This tradition is almost religion for them. So much so that there are holidays for training. Forging a weapon out of Araylith is comparable to "coming of age" on Earth. All Worbals possess an Araylith weapon of some sort and are capable fighters, but often don't make a career out of it. Those that do, participate in the dueling sport popular across the species.
Outside of the established sport, duels occur regularly in Worbal society for recreation, learning, bonding, gambling, and settling arguments. Worbal's use personal shield technology to safely conduct these fights, but underground fighting rings often forgo these precautions. The shields are built in a way that allows the Worbal to feel the blows, but block the damage, with a MindLink.
Any Worbal can ask for a duel at any time. They must lay out their own ruleset or use the common rule outlined by the DA (Dueling Association). The challenged Worbal has the choice to accept or decline once the rules have been set.
Dueling is the most popular sport across the species. Its governing body, the Dueling Association, or DA, facilitates everything from small city leagues to the pro league.
Pack-Duels are commonly only performed in sporting events and rarely occur outside official matches or scrims. The DA outlines three classes of Pack-Duels for the sport. 3-Worbal, 5-Worbal, and 8-Worbal. These duels are 3v3, 5v5, and 8v8 respectively. Tactics can differ greatly for each and packs often only specialize in one class. Outside of the official sport, odd duels such as a 6v6 can happen, but these are isolated events that the DA markets in-between pro league seasons.
Official League rules dictates that the duel continues until one Worbal either yields or their shielding implants drop. The implant's characteristics lead to a strong importance on bioelectric stamina among professional duelists.
Worbals are Pack creatures. A pack typically consists of 3-8 Worbals, though the largest recorded pack was 17 Worbals. Back on Cansevai, these packs were unbreakable, though a shift occurred somewhere between the move to Erani and current times, and packs act more like marriage nowadays. A pack's name is decided by the pack members during its creation. Although not common, Worbals can leave and change packs.
Packless Worbals are uncommon, but do exist. They are not shunned by their society and largely forgotten about until it’s brought up in conversation.
The inner-workings of packs are not the same across all packs. The norms pack members follow are decided by the packs themselves. As such, there is a lot of deviation. Some packs may choose to stay close to each other while others may live across multiple cities and planets.
Offspring do not inherit the packname of their parents. This section of their name is left blank until they've formed and registered their own pack. Instead, the packname of their parents becomes their family name.
Worbals have two native spoken languages with a few major dialects from each. One is primarily spoken on Erani while the other on Eranis. Araylia is a mix of both.
Worbals also have a third natural tongue. It isn’t as complete as their spoken language, but different sounds can convey different things in brief and simple communication.
After their first contact with Earth, English has become a widely known language in Arcsan. Its growth started with a few Worbal officials learning the language for ease of communication, then studied by those in the language field, and then enthusiasts brought it to the public scene.
