The Army and police mysteries are my dual passions.
By way of introduction, I am a retired lawyer and army officer who has seen a lifetime of service with both Canada's Regular Army and it's Reserves as an artilleryman, an artillery officer, an infantry officer, a legal officer and as a civil litigator.
In 2009 I retired in the rank of colonel as Canada's Senior Reserve Force Legal Advisor and turned my attention to writing novels. For more background on the Allies and Mark Winters, CID books see my first post here.
The purpose of this blog, however, is not solely to provide updates on the progress of the books but also to share, from time-to-time, thoughts and views that I have about various Canadian Defence issues.
While much of my attention is focused on the novels, I also retain a keen interest in what is happening in both the US and Canadian military, and particular their armies. Quite frankly, especially when it comes to the Canadian military which I've been involved with for many, many years, I find much to be critical about. In some ways we are better off than we've ever been but, sadly, in others, especially in the amount of resources squandered on our blotted headquarters and the relationships between the Regular Force and the Reserve Force, we are very badly served indeed.
