How to play
We suggest three different ways to use wizzle and we are open to new ideas that users may propose:
1. The user can solve the wizzle.
2. The user can use the wizzle tile as a stencil to draw the tessellation on paper.
3. The user can play the wizzle as a board game.
1. The user can solve the wizzle
The tiles of each wizzle fit together in a unique way, but there are many ways in which they can be assembled.
The basic solution of the wizzle is to place the tiles in a "chessboard" pattern, where adjacent colors are different. This can be achieved in various ways. The simplest way is to place the tiles one by one, next to each other. However, the wizzle can also be assembled in groups of four in rows or columns, revealing other patterns it contains.
The user can unleash their creativity by trying out different color combinations.
Different color combinations create new patterns and may alter the symmetry of the tessellation.
The user can let their imagination run wild and create various shapes with the wizzle.
2. The user can draw the tessellation
The user can use the wizzle tile as a stencil to draw the tessellation on paper and then paint and color it, creating a unique artwork of their own.
Anyone who wishes can send us photos of their creations to be published on the Isometricks website and social media platforms, contributing creatively to the wizzle Creativity & Learning Community.
3. The wizzle can be played as a board game
Two or more people can play wizzle as a board game with various sets of rules that create easier fun games or more challenging strategy games.
SET OF RULES Νο1 (for a fun game)
On a 6x6 board.
Each player has a color. Each player places a tile when it's their turn.
A player cannot place a tile adjacent (left-right, up-down) to their own tile, meaning a tile of their own color. If a player captures (left-right, up-down) an opponent's tile between two of their own tiles, they take the opponent's tile.
When a player can no longer place another tile or when their tiles run out, the game ends.
Victory condition: Whoever has the most tiles when the game ends (reaches a deadlock) wins.
SET OF RULES Νο 2 (for a strategy game)
The game is played on an 8x8 board with a square grid called wizzle. You can create the 8x8 board yourself using the wizzle tile as a stencil on cardboard.
Each player is assigned a color. When it is their turn to play, the player takes a tile of their color in their possession and has the right to make a move and/or an attack.
A move means:
Either the player can place one or two tiles of their possession onto the board.
Or the player can move one tile of their color on the board by one position (right, left, up, or down).
An attack means:
Either we remove an opponent's tile from the board. To remove a tile, there must be three or more tiles of our own color surrounding it (above, below, right, left, and diagonally). We keep the opponent's tile that we removed in our possession, and it counts as one point.
Or we can move an opponent's tile on the board by one position (right, left, up, or down). To move the tile, there must be two or more tiles of our own color surrounding it (above, below, right, left, and diagonally).
A structure is a series of at least three tiles of the same player (either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally). A player can create as many structures as they want as long as they do not touch each other (right, left, up, down, or diagonally). A structure is protected, meaning it cannot be attacked by the opponent. The opponent can only make a special attack on a structure.
Special attack: When we want to attack a tile that belongs to a structure, we must have four tiles diagonally from that tile. In this case, we can remove the opponent's tile from the board and break the structure. We keep the opponent's tile that we removed in our possession, and it counts as one point.
Victory conditions: The first player to collect 5 points wins. In the event that the board is filled or when both players run out of tiles, the player with the most points wins.
