About Us

Cleo Yau

My interest in social justice stems largely in part to the inspiring videos of Jubilee's Middle Ground series. Like the Middle Ground videos, we want to create open spaces for discussion to understand groups of people better, beyond the stereotypes we often hear. We want to give a voice to our community seniors who are often pushed away because people don't think that they're "useful" or capable anymore, which is an assumption that doesn't take into account the rich advice or "wisdom" that elders have.

I spend a lot of time listening and learning from the stories of others, most notably my parents and grandparents. The difference in my Asian culture and American culture, in terms of respecting our elders, made me want to inform others about the importance of learning through our elders' stories. I helped start this project due to this desire, and I hope that, through W.I.S.D.O.M through film, we could learn to value our elders more.

Fun Facts

  • Cooking late at night.
