Winter Project

Winter Project  is now in 9th year of running. 

This year we reached out Eight children homes in total to cover 200 children.    

Every year Winter project donates Books for Children, along with a set of hand knitted cap and neck warmers. Sweet treats for children is a must.  We also donate hand knitted woollen blankets however we could donate it to very few children homes. Of that few dozens blankets decide to give it to the children homes which has highest number of children we visit each year.  That is why this year it went to Prabina Home which has two children homes in Kathmandu.  

Of the Eight children homes we have covered three children homes are in Kathmandu valley, Two children homes are in Chitwan, One eash is in Gulmi, Sindhupalchowk, Palpa and Myagdi respectively. When we cover a children homes within the valley we make sure that the distance between two children homes are at least10 km.  this means we reached out to out of valley with more than 70% of our donation and only 30% goes to children homes  in Kathmandu valley. 

​This year too we could donate  woollen blankets  to three children homes. thanks to Carol Chan from Hongkong who make this easier.

Seven people supported for this cause and all of them have been with us almost from the beginning.

 This year giving time started from  November 3rd week which went on  till January  13, 2023.

This year we crossed the mark of reaching out over 1800 children. to be precise, we covered more than 1800 children since we started in 2015.

This is our 8th year of running Winter Project. 

We reached out Seven children homes in total to cover 223 children this year.  This year we also donated extra for 25 HIV positive children who are students of New Life Tuition Center, Sunakothi, Lalitpur.   

Every year Winter project donates Books for Children, one set of cap and neck warmers, Sweet treats for children.  We also donate hand knitted blanket but we could donate it to only one children home. We have decided to give it to the children home which has highest number of children we visit each year.  That is why this year it went to a Prisoners' Assistance Nepal located in Sankhu  which has 87 children currently. 

Of the seven children homes we have covered this year three children homes are out of Kathmandu valley, Two children homes are in Janakpur, One is in Sunauli.  This year we covered three children homes in Kathmandu.  When we cover a children homes within the valley we make sure that the distance between two children homes are at least10 km.  

​Like last year this year too we could donate  woolen blankets  to one children home.

Five people supported for this cause and all of them have been with us almost from the beginning.

 This year giving time started from  November 3rd week which went on  till December 17, 2022.

This year we crossed the mark of reaching out over 1500 children. to be precise, we covered more than 1600 children since we started in 2015.

This is our 7th year of running Winter Project. 

We could cover 226 children this year. We are ready for one more children home with about 20-30 capacity in remote part of the country. Despite the fear of Corona we did pretty well this year. 

Our gift of warm consisted of Books for Children, one set of Caps and neck warmers and sweets for children. As for the hand knitted blanket we could donate it to only one children home.  It went to a transit home for street children at Lubhu which provided service to 65 children. 

Of the six children homes we have covered this year five children homes are out of Kathmandu, One children home is in Nuwakote, children home is in Pokhara, one is in border of Panauti-Kavre. Two are in Lalitpur one is in Lubhu and another was in Godawary. This year we covere just one children home from Kathmandu.  it is our policy not to cover a children home that is within 10 km distance.  Sure some exception will always be there. 

​This year also we could donate some woolen Blankets again to one children home only.

Three people supported for this cause and three of them have been with us at least three year.

Every year we tag donors on Facebook post after distributing gift of warmth so that they will know how and where money was used. 

This year giving time started from mid November till last week of December.

Up untill now we covered more than 1400 children.

This was our 6th year, and this year we could cover 170 children. We could not travel due to corona and some of the children home could not come to collect the warmers for the same reason. 

 This year we gave continuation of Children Books in our list of giveaway for children along with warmers and some sweets for the children.  

Of the nine children homes we had covered this year five children homes are out of Kathmandu, two are in Chitwan and two are in Pokhara and one children home is in Dang. Of the four children homes we visited in Kathamndu two are in Pharphing area one was in Baniyatar and another is in Chovar area. We make sure that the children home we vist must be in at least 10 kilo meter apart from one another. Sure some exception will always be there. 

​This year we could also donate some woolen Blankets to one children home.

 Now Books for Children is as important as warmers for our project.  Good news is this year we could cover ten children homes and yes  all children homes received books.

Of the ten children homes we had covered this year two children homes are in Pokhara which has been listed as third city having most children homes in it. One was in Nepalgunj and one children home is in Butwal and one is in Simikote, Humla; one of the most remote and coldest part of the country. The remaining five homes all are  located in  Kathmandu. Many of the children homes are about ten KM distance from each other. 

Thirteen people donated to buy wool and books to cover 200 children. Many of them have been regular supporters by now to our project.

We visit children homes only on Saturdays not to hamper their school days. 

We thank our donors by tagging them on Facebook with thank you note  after every  distribution so that they will know how and where their money  was used. This is one gesture from our side to show our appreciation for their support.

All three children homes are located in  Kathmandu.

This was our first year, and this year we could cover only 100 children. 

 This year we could distribute just warmers. Books were not in our list of giveaways.

This year donation started from January till March. Luckily two children homes were in remote parts of the country like Jumla, which do not need just winter season to use warmers. When my brother visited Jumla after four months that year children were still wearing the warmers we have sent.
