Blankets for All
We need 200 blankets a year to donate. It can be made locally or knitters around the world supporting us by sending it as donation. We have been trying to add blankets in our giveaways but for many years it has been a challenge to raise funds to make 200 blankets to donate. After waiting for many years to come from the knitters / crocheters around the world. This year, however, we are preparing blankets locally to meet the needs of at least one children home if not ten homes to cover 200 children.
This might change if we get blankets from keen knitters around the world who are in our Facebook group : Helping make 200 blankets.
Dozens of enthusiastic knitters around the world are discouraged by the postage charge to send us blankets they make because it cost them double than it cost them to make one.
That is why we think it's more practical to send us financial support than knitted items. Our local knitters will make it here in Kathmandu.

Due to the corona Pandemic in 2020, we could donate blankets to only one children home.
Adding colors in your work when you work on a project like making blankets kills your boredom.
In 2016 we could donate some blankets to Hope Family, a children home in Kathmandu. These are the pictures they sent me. I said, these are not the bed sheets. The wife of the pastor, who is also the founder of this children home, responded, I know, but I wanted to show you this.
These cheerful multi color woolen blankets will raise the children's' spirits. It is also hoped that such bright colors will leave a life time lasting impact in child's mind how color boost our moods.

When we started making blankets in 2016 we made separate squares to make the blankets. This method took a long time to finish and we only finished two blankets this way. Let's talk little bit about the making process of blanket here.
Pre-joined knitted squares
Pre-joined knitted squares
It was then the idea of pre-joined blanket came in mind. This reduced the joining time by an entire two days not just hours. As we made blankets we learned that there are some ways to cut time to make and join them squares, especially when we use the way we knit to join the squares. For this very reason we now make pre-joined multicolored square or big patches. Once its done we use crochet to join the finished strips. This takes about two hours to join three long strips. This means we now have saved two days of hard work just to join all the squares needed to make a blanket.
