Team Dynamics

Organizations are utilizing teams more than ever before to remain successful in the increasingly fast-pace of business. My degree in I-O Psychology has equipped me with knowledge of team dynamics and the ability to implement team interventions that evaluate, diagnose, and address team obstacles. I believe effective interventions involve a holistic evaluation that considers the broader organizational context, team leadership, group norms and relations, individual differences, team function, and task suitability.

Consulting Project: Team Effectiveness 

Our consultancy group worked with a student leadership team to identify their strengths and areas for development. Based on our assessment, we designed a team intervention with three specific, actionable recommendations.

This handout is a general overview to implementing effective team interventions. It is a simple guide to use as a cheat sheet that includes factors to consider when deciding if a team needs an intervention, where the intervention should focus, what type of intervention will be most appropriate, tips for effective team building and training, and the aspects for evaluation to be examined post-intervention. This handout was accompanied by a presentation expanding upon the information in detail.

Research Update: Team Cohesion and Performance

In our Organizational Psychology class, we were asked to present on a recent scientific study on a topic of our choosing. This research study used a gaming simulation that ultimately demonstrated how team cohesion and coordination positively effect performance in newly formed teams.
