Industrial-Organizational Psychology

What is I-O psychology?

I-O psychology is a dynamic and growing field that addresses workplace issues at the individual and organizational level. We improve organizations through their most powerful asset, their people. I-O practitioners apply research that improves the well-being and performance of people and the organizations that employ them. This involves everything from workforce planning, employee selection, and leader development to studying job attitudes and job motivation, implementing work teams, improving diversity and inclusion, and facilitating organizational change.

What makes UTC's I-O Program unique?

The UTC I-O Program stands out for its unique blend of academic rigor, practical application, and professional development opportunities. With a curriculum grounded in the latest research and industry practices, the UTC program equips students with a comprehensive understanding of I-O psychology's science and practice. Throughout my time in this program, my learning has never been confined to the walls of a classroom. Through hands-on projects with real organizations, internship and networking opportunities, and involvement in our dynamic professional development group, CHAIOP, I have not only gained valuable practical experience but also have been exposed to a variety of industries and work environments. This program is designed to heavily emphasize the heart of I-O psychology: the power of the bridge between science and practice.
