Observation on Teachers

Planning is a crucial step in creating an effective learning experience. Based on my observations, the teacher at Laboratory High School plans lessons systematically and thoughtfully. The lesson plans are aligned with clear learning objectives that meet the curriculum's standards and ensure that the desired competencies are achieved. The teacher also considers the characteristics and needs of the students in the planning process. By using a student-centered approach, the teacher aims to create a classroom environment where students take an active role in their own learning. This includes incorporating strategies like Problem-Based Learning (PBL), where students are encouraged to explore real-world challenges and use their critical thinking skills to come up with solutions.

In the lesson planning process, the teacher also ensures that the materials chosen are engaging and relevant, helping students connect English language concepts to real-world phenomena. This approach not only enhances the learning experience but also makes it more meaningful and applicable to students' daily lives.

The teaching in the classroom is conducted in an interactive and student-centered manner. From my observations, the teacher fosters an engaging classroom atmosphere where students are encouraged to take an active role in their learning. The approach used is largely student-centered, with a focus on encouraging students to develop their opinions, ask questions, and engage in discussions. This approach not only promotes critical thinking but also empowers students by giving them more responsibility for their own learning.

Moreover, Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is implemented effectively in the classroom. Students are presented with real-world problems or scenarios that require them to apply their English language skills in a practical context. This allows students to collaborate, think creatively, and develop solutions together. By using PBL, the teacher integrates language learning with the development of problem-solving and teamwork skills, which are crucial in today’s globalized world.

The teacher also creates an inclusive environment where every student’s opinion is valued. Students are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas, making the lessons more dynamic and participatory. This creates a lively, collaborative classroom where students feel motivated to contribute and learn from one another.

In addition to lesson planning, material preparation, teaching, and evaluation, several other factors contribute to the overall success of the teaching process. One of these factors is effective classroom management. In the classroom I observed, the teacher skillfully manages the classroom dynamics, maintaining focus and engagement while addressing any challenges that arise during the lesson.

The teacher also demonstrates a high level of attention to individual student needs, providing additional support to students who require it. This individualized approach ensures that every student is able to participate and succeed, regardless of their skill level.

The combination of careful planning, diverse teaching materials, interactive classroom activities, and ongoing assessment creates a dynamic and motivating learning environment for students. By integrating both traditional and modern teaching methods, the teacher successfully supports students' language development while also preparing them with important skills like problem-solving and collaboration for the future.
