Habitat, August 24

"Participating in the day of service at Habitat for Humanity was a well-spent experience for me. Knowing that my work was actually going to a real cause meant a lot. It was also special to be able to work with the person who will be moving into the house when it is finished. Whenever I do service like this, it reminds me of how lucky I am to have grown up the way I did, without having to worry about a clean house with heat and food. This was a fulfilling day for me, and I hope to come back another time and help finish the house."

"We took on our first event at a Habitat house in Lower Price Hill, and I certainly was eye-opened by the vulnerability these low-income residents are at terms with. The house seemed to be in complete disarray before we started our work, so with our help, this house is becoming affordable and sustainable for the woman who is soon to move in. I was humbled to take part in a project like this because I worked with a diverse pool of people in terms of economic background, race, and age. I would definitely do something like this again because I knew the inputs my team put forth will yield greater outputs for this new resident."

"Working on the Habitat for Humanity House was something that was not only gratifying, but also eye opening. It was really awesome to know that my work was going towards a home that would eventually take one more family out of a situation that might not be the best for them. Furthermore, it was a great way to see how blessed I am to have a place to go to every night because not everyone has that luxury. Working on the house is something that I really enjoyed and will look forward to doing more of in the future."

"Working with Habitat was a very good experience for me as I was able to learn some life skills and facts about such an old house all while doing service for the community. I really liked the fact that the person who the house is being sold too could come and help and watch her dream house become reality. I definitely recommend this service and I plan on doing it again."

"Working at Habitat was amazing. I got to learn so much about painting and basic renovation. I learned about all of the different tools and techniques for getting the job done. The people for Habitat that we worked with were amazing and I got to learn about them while working. It was great to be with my friends while doing this and the time flew by because I was having so much fun. I can’t wait to do more projects such as this in the future."
