Social Media Impact 🌸
Social Media Impact 🌸
Project Description
For this project I did some self reflection and examined the impact social media has on society and everyday life.
"Am I ADDICTED to social media?" QUIZ
Results
Congratulations! Psychologists estimate that as many as 5 to 10% of Americans meet the criteria for social media addiction today. But luckily, that's not you! Not checking social media every few minutes doesn't make you feel anxious, as you prefer to live 'in the moment' rather than through your apps. You use social media to your advantage, at work and to connect with friends and
family, but you know when to put it away. Keep it up!
Reflection
I agree with the results from the quiz, I think my relationship is quiet healthy of social media. Over the past several months I have intentionally cut back on my social media usage and screen time. This has helped me to improved my daily time management doing more productive tasks, creating less distractions and increasing positive energy. Social media can be very addicting, time consuming and it can take toll on your mental health if not used in moderation.
Interesting Social Media Statistic
This article I found interesting based on the stats. The two main social media platforms I use most frequently, YouTube was ranked the highest and Facebook the lowest.I find YouTube to be more of a learning tool from DIYs, school tutoring videos, cooking videos, car videos, etc. It caters not just to teens but to all ages from babies to the elderly. I can see why more people gravitate towards this platform comparing to other social platforms. I found that other platforms listed where mostly used for entertainment purposes. I was surprised with the results of Facebook usage, I thought teens were more active on this platform. After doing more research teens tend to gravitate towards entertainment and trends. Facebook is probably the least entertaining amongst the other apps for teens.
Social media has taken over society for the past two to three decades. Social media has impacted society in everyway possible both negatively and positively. It has created a space for connections with people around the world, opportunities to make an income, news outlets, create awareness, creates a space for free speech, fashion and trends that anyone can part take it. On the downside it can be addicting trying to keep up with it on a daily basis. It also creates alot of misinformation and cyberbulling. Social media has to be used in moderation. I creates more postive effects in society when used correctly.
Lesson Learned
Social media is a very powerful tool used in society everyday. It has several usuage including entertainment, creating connections around the world, sharing ideas and keeping up with current affairs, etc. Social media has taken over the world and it's going to be around for a very long time. The way in which we operate our social media space whether negatively or positively is what makes a difference in society.
