The funds we got from White River Hometowns fund, helps us to feed the youth at Buckley youth center and skatepark, and also WhiteRivers transitional programs. I love seeing the kids be kids, and to stop and just hang out and eat all their goodies. The best part is when they see us coming and they all start jumping up and down, and then run over to see us, and say I was hoping you were coming back, and do you remember me? M2M has been serving youth at the Buckley skatepark & youth center for 10 years now, and we look forward to many more.

We wanted to take a moment to share our appreciation here at the Carbonado Food Pantry for the funding we received from this foundation in 2025.
To say that the funds we received have been a blessing to our community is an understatement. As we all know the food received from our local food banks has seasons of abundance and seasons of barely scraping by. We also never know what random type of food we will be getting each week.
Here at Carbonado we have been able to use the funds to keep our shelves filled every week with the regular household staples, regardless of which season we are experiencing. We pride ourselves on being extremely diligent in shopping only items that go on sale and I spend a lot of time on comparison shopping to ensure we are paying the lowest prices for the items we are purchasing so we can stretch the funds as far as possible. Without these funds, I have no doubt we would not have been able to serve our community at the same level and capacity as we did.
P.S. Another exciting note to mention is we were able to purchase a much needed brand new freezer for the pantry.
Thank you all again for entrusting us with the funds to make this past year a successful experience for my team and the families we serve.

“I vividly remember the positive impact this event had!
It was the first time that some of the older adult ladies had the chance to use a power tool and the 1:1 assistance provided safety and fostered confidence!
It was mentioned that the joy was in being able to take pieces and create a complete structure. We have so many wildlife admirers that they loved creating a potential home for a bird!
This project although done in one day for the construction, was able to provide on-going project enjoyment because our Art with Friends group took theirs and did beautiful paintings on their bird houses. They took their time and over the course of a few weeks of meeting they completed artfully decorated houses! Fun!”

The funding from the Hometowns Grant has helped us keep 114 unduplicated youth participating in healthy active and engaging activities through the youth centers late night program.
The funding also has supported and made our summer youth tunes by the trail possible. These events averaged an attendance over 250 this last summer and help connect our community during the summer months.

The Town of Wilkeson in partnership with the White River Hometowns Fund & Pierce County Historic Preservation, completed the restoration on one of the town's historic coke ovens. This is the only replica example in the regionand is meant to show how the ovens looked and give visitors additional perspective on how these ovens functioned. This site is being improved to increase public use and share our mining history with visitors.

The Buckley Senior Center has continued to be supported throughout the year with the Grant money we received to continue our SAIL (Stay Active and Independent for Life) exercise program. We have increased our attendance at the program throughout the past year! This fulfills our goal to provide one of the most essential services that promotes physical and mental health to our senior population. Being active is without a doubt noted as a top priority for the people we serve to engage in at our Buckley center. Secondly, we have been able to continue our fun activities such as live music at birthday parties and other special events at the center. The grant money also enables us to have prizes for our twice monthly Bingo program and many other activities. We are so thankful to have received this funding.
