White River Hometowns Fund was created by Marydale Brooks, a longtime Buckley community resident and a quiet philanthropist.

Marydale shared, "I get great joy and satisfaction when community projects come together and everyone starts pitching in with their talents, resources, or pure grunt work to get the job done. It's like a snowball effect. From what I've seen, giving to opportunities makes me feel a part of the community and that's a good feeling."

Marydale passed away in 2018. This Fund was set up as an endowment for the White River communities of Buckley, Carbonado and Wilkeson, and will continue to support its residents for years to come.

As part of her legacy Marydale Brooks created an endowed fund through Greater Tacoma Community Foundation, which will support the three communies for many years to come.
