My Symphonic Suite
Hobbies have always been a big part of who I am, but there's one that stands out above the rest – creating playlists. Now, I'm not sure how common this hobby is, but for me, it's something I absolutely love. It's opened up a whole world of music that I might never have discovered otherwise. I started out with a love for rap and hip hop, but over time, I've come to enjoy everything from classical to pop, j-pop, rock, alternative, lo-fi, and even a little bit of country (although I have to admit, it's not my go-to).
But creating playlists isn't just about picking out songs for me; it's like capturing a moment in time, kind of like taking a photograph. Each playlist reflects where I'm at in life and what's going on in my head. It's like leaving a little reminder for my future self to look back on.
One of my favorite kinds of playlists is filled with epic music – you know, the kind of stuff you hear in movies that really gets your heart pumping. I've gotten really into original soundtracks from different films, and there are a couple of composers like Kohta Yamamoto and Hiroyuki Sawano whose work I absolutely love. Their music for "Attack on Titan" is just incredible. In fact, for three years in a row, from 2020 to 2023, my Apple Music recap showed that the soundtrack was my most-listened-to album, songs, and artists. That's how much of an impact it's had on me.
I've always been amazed by orchestras – the way all those musicians come together to create something so beautiful is just mesmerizing. I might not know much about music, but I can still appreciate the talent and hard work that goes into making those pieces. I like to listen to symphonic music when I'm doing all sorts of things – exercising, writing in my journal, reading, or studying. It's like having my own personal soundtrack for life, guiding me through whatever comes my way.
