Invest, Cultivate, and Create
"Invest. Cultivate. Create." These three words, inspired by Jennifer Lynn Barnes's novel series, "The Inheritance Games," have become my guiding principles for living life to the fullest. Since turning eighteen, I've been diving deep into the world of learning and self-improvement, putting my focus on understanding finances and sharpening my skills. It's been a journey of discovery, shaping my outlook on success and personal growth.
But it wasn't until I stumbled upon "The Inheritance Games" at twenty that I realized there's more to life than just money matters. In the story, Tobias Hawthorne, a wealthy mentor, teaches his grandsons a valuable lesson: to strive for their best selves. He challenges them with tasks that stretch their minds and encourage growth in three key areas: learning, developing new talents, and expressing creativity.
For the grandsons, each birthday brought a new challenge: invest wisely, master a new skill within a year, and bring a creative project to life. It was a blueprint for self-discovery and personal development, both inspiring and daunting.
Of course, not everyone has the same opportunities as the Hawthornes. For most of us, such a journey may seem out of reach. But I believe we can all benefit from adopting a similar mindset, even if on a smaller scale.
Maybe we can't tackle all three areas at once, but even taking small steps can lead to big changes. Whether it's learning something new, honing a skill, or expressing ourselves creatively, each effort has the power to enrich our lives and bring us closer to our full potential.
For me, it began with investing in my education and developing my interests before delving into creative pursuits. I started writing short stories, tapping into my imagination, and finding new ways to express myself. It's been a journey of self-discovery and growth, shaping my path forward.
So, while we may not all have the same advantages as the Hawthornes, we can still strive to be our best selves. By embracing the principles of "Invest. Cultivate. Create.," we can unlock our potential and lead lives filled with purpose, passion, and fulfillment.
