Your student has been enrolled into a digital Unit Recovery class(es) to make up for the required credit(s) he/she didn’t earn during the spring semester. Unit Recovery classes are offered for courses required for graduation, not for elective courses. This letter is to provide more information concerning our Unit Recovery program and how it will be administered for the remainder of this academic year and summer. These are shortened versions of our Credit Recovery program to allow students that were close to passing a quicker path to earning their credit. The units that students will have to complete were selected by their classroom teachers.
We want to be as proactive as possible to ensure that all of our students stay on track academically during this period of school closure, so we automatically enrolled all students into the unit recovery classes that they need; however, participation in this program is up to you and your student. It will be offered through our Edgenuity platform, a digital learning program provided by Sumner County Schools. If you or your student decide not to participate in Unit Recovery, he/she will be enrolled in the failed class for the upcoming year.
Unit Recovery classes begin immediately and will run through June 15th
Classes are free and participation is up to the student/parent
Student pacing and progress is determined by their effort and time invested
Upon completion of Unit recovery, students will earn credit for the course
Their final grade (that appears on their transcript) will be a 70 after completing Unit Recovery
All Edgenuity classes begin with a tutorial video explaining how the class works and how to navigate the program
WHHS understands that this style of learning may not be for everyone, therefore participation is voluntary. We want to offer the chance to regain a missed required credit during this time period rather than repeating the course again next school year.
