Sumner Connect Enrichment Points Guide

Dear WHHS Parents and Families,

The Tennessee State Board of Education voted on April 9, 2020 to freeze student grades on March 20, 2020. They also resolved that districts could offer students the opportunity to raise their grade. Sumner County will offer students the opportunity to earn a maximum of 5 enrichment points over the course of Q4.

What is an enrichment point?

Students earn enrichment points by participating in the assignments they are given. Participation can be determined by completion of Edgenuity assignments, joining a classroom Zoom, work on Google Classroom, or through email/phone contact with their teacher.

When do we start giving enrichment points?

Teachers can add one enrichment point per week. No more than one point per week may be awarded. Students can earn a maximum of 5 enrichment points. The schedule is listed below:

Prior to April 20 1 Point

April 20-April 24 1 Point

April 27-May 1 1 Point

May 4-May 8 1 Point

May 11-May 15 1 Point

May 18-May 22 1 Point

Students have six opportunities to earn 5 points.

How do we add enrichment points to student grades?

Enrichment points will be added just as we add rigor points to Honors, Dual Enrollment, or AP classes. They should be added at the end of the semester to the student’s final grade.

Do enrichment points replace rigor points?

Enrichment points are added in addition to the rigor points that students earn from taking an honors or AP class.

How do we help students without access to technology?

If a student contacts you regarding enrichment points but does not have access to technology, please let your principal know. We will try to address technology needs at the school and district level. In the event that students cannot access technology, our student support team will ensure that they have textbooks. At that point, we will offer them alternative assignments with feedback to given over the phone.
