Letter from Admin

Dear WHHS Parents and Families,

This is an incredibly difficult time for our community, and we are so proud of all the ways we have come together already. With schools on an extended closure through April 24, our teachers and school leaders are putting together resources to support continued learning for students while school remains closed. Teachers have posted enrichment activities for the students this past week. More instructional support will be available as we improve our systems and become more familiar with distance learning. This week, families can expect:

Opportunities to Connect

  • Teachers will connect with students online or by phone each week.

  • Teachers will post weekly updates with instructional priorities for the week.

  • Parents are encouraged to reach out to teachers and principals with questions or requests for additional support.

Opportunities to Learn

  • Teachers will post subject-specific instruction and enrichment activities each week.

  • They will monitor student progress to provide support where needed.

  • Teachers will give feedback on learning, but will not issue grades.

You will receive a phone call later this week with instructions on how to get access to technology if that is needed for your student. Later this week you will receive a sample schedule to help guide you and your student to ensure appropriate pacing and create effective routines.

Now is the time to remember home and school is a relationship with give and take on both sides, but keep in mind that we must pace ourselves. This will not be perfect, and it will not perfectly emulate school. Instead, we will find a balance where our students continue to learn, continue to grow, continue to ask questions, and most importantly, witness the adults most special in their lives come together for the greatest cause, student success, and wellbeing. Thank you for your partnership through this unusual time as we do what is best for our students.
