The first Howard that I have semi-reliable information about is Thomas Howard, who may be from either North Carolina or Georgia.
I descend from four of the Howard-Durham children: Thomas Jr., James, Elizabeth, and William. One of my descent lines from Elizabeth is all female:
Letty>Elizabeth Howard>Pheobe Arnett>Nancy Salyer>Elizabeth Patrick>Dora Howard>Josephine Risner>Daughter> ME
A look at the chart at the left shows that Dora's father, Benjamin Franklin Howard, my Great great grandfather, was also a direct descendant of Thomas Howard. Dora was her own cousin. She is not the only member of my family with that distinction, I have several "collapsing" family trees.
My mtDNA haplogroup is H1-T16189C!
