WE HAD 35 PEOPLE at this protest; the largest for one of our overpass protests! The weather was great, we had lots of fun, made new friends and got lots of waves and honks.
It was raining today but everyone who signed up to protest today showed up to speak up about the decimation of the CDC and the attacks on science. We take inspiration from the US Postal Service: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds" --- Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these protesters from speaking up! When you see the photos, don't miss the monarch butterfly that joined us by leaving it's chrysalis and hanging out on the fence. The only monarch we want to see!!
WOW, just WOW! Thank you so much! We had 24 people yesterday at the Toftrees overpass and you brought your joy, waving hands, waving flags, holding signs, patriotic bling, helpful hands… and the list goes on. I saw people making new friends, catching up with old friends. It was an inspiring and uplifting event.
And that’s what this is all about in these dark days — our protests encourage each other and the people who see us… well maybe not the folks with a finger up or a thumb down. BUT maybe we made them think?
In Philipsburg, PA, bus loads of people from Pittsburgh and Philadelphia joined Centre and Clearfield county residents in protesting the largest ICE detention facility in northeast United States. There were inspiring speakers and sobering speakers. We learned of conditions in the facility and the cruel means used to kidnap people from our streets. The even was covered on the Rachel Maddow show the next day and received local coverage as well: WPSU-FM
Sunny days, pleasant weather, wonderful companionship, rich discussions! Also got coverage from WPSU Radio.
It was hot, but we had fun! Lots of supportive honks and we were amazed at the number of truckers who honked support.
We were few but mighty!
Keystone Indivisible sponsored to vigils, one in State College and the other in Bellefonte. Speakers, music led by the Justice Singers and a candlelight vigil were on the agenda. “Good Trouble Lives On” was a national day of nonviolent action to respond to the attacks posed on our civil and human rights by the Trump administration and to remind them that in America, the power lies with the people. On July 17, the anniversary of Congressman John Lewis’s passing, we took action across the country to defend our democracy and carry forward his legacy of Good Trouble. Pictures are below.

The first installations of overpass signs was fun, successful and a learning experience! Pictures include drone pics!
With word the Senate passed the Big Ugly Bill, we gathered in last ditch effort to garner a vote against.
We found other places to park, brought new signs and avoided reacting to a couple counter protesters.
