Test Preparation

How to register for Cambridge admissions tests

Our November admissions tests must be taken at an authorised test centre. For most candidates this will be their own school or college.

Step-by-step registration guide

1. Check the key dates/costs*

Students should check when registration opens and closes for their admissions test on our website to avoid missing any deadlines.

2. Find a test centre

Students should speak to their school/college Exams Officer to find out if your institution is already registered to run our tests. If it is, then they can proceed to the next step.

If not, students have two options:

3. Get registered by the Exams Officer/test centre

Students will be asked to provide personal details such as their date of birth, UCAS number and the name of the courses/universities they’re applying to in order to be registered.

If students are eligible for Access Arrangements such as extra time, they must make this known to the Exams Officer/test centre. They will be asked to provide medical evidence.

4. Get their candidate entry number

As proof that their registration is complete, students must get their candidate entry number from the Exams Officer/test centre.

*A registration fee is required for BMAT and TMUA only. Your students can find details of the costs on our website. Also, some test centres may require an administration fee to sit any of our admissions tests.

Top Tips

There is no need for students to pay for a preparation course. There is access to free preparation materials for all the admissions tests. We recommend that students:

Access test preparation materials

Students should visit the website for advice about how to prepare and where to access resources for their admissions test.

Get familiar with the test format

Using the free preparation materials available, students should look at the test content to familiarise themselves with the test.

Develop a preparation strategy

Using free resources and practice papers, students should identify the areas they need to work on the most.

Practise under test conditions

Using the free practice or past papers that are available, students should practise under test conditions.
