Weymouth Chess Club

Welcome

The Weymouth Chess Club provides opportunities for players of all playing strengths to play both social and competitive chess in a friendly setting.

The club encourages beginners and novices to improve through training given by more experienced club players. and believes that the more a player understands the game the more they will appreciate this beautiful artistic game at it's highest level.

The club meets every Tuesday night at the Redlands Sport and Community Centre on the Dorchester Road, Weymouth [map] at 7:00pm.   Being a seaside town the club only meets from the start of September until the end of April each year.  A beginners, improvers section will be available soon starting at 6:00pm on the same evening where informal tuition is available.

The club runs two internal competitions through the chess season - Joe Anderson handicapped KO and a club championship All Play All.  The club is affiliated to the Dorset Chess Association and has teams in Division 1, 2 and 3 of the Dorset Chess League and participates in the popular B&DCL Team Handicap KO competition and the start of season Dorchester Jamboree.

Tea/Coffee facilities are available.

We do not have wheel chair access to our upstairs club room. If this is needed please contact the club secretary and we can try to make alternative arrangements.

There is no bar at the Sports Centre and alcohol is not permitted to be brought into the club.
