Mrs. Chapman always knew she was going to work with young people. Chemistry and Creative Writing were her favorite subjects and she received her Bachelor’s degree in Geology from James Madison University. Mrs. Chapman taught middle and high school science for nearly a decade in her hometown in Virginia. In 2017, she moved to Illinois to complete her Master’s degree in Library and Information Sciences from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and worked in a middle school library.

She currently lives in Brooklyn and loves her job as the school librarian at the Westinghouse Educational Campus – helping a whole community of students think outside the box. Mrs. Chapman is passionate about incorporating STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and inquiry across the curriculum, watching young people’s “ah-ha” moments, being a wannabe archivist at the Brooklyn Collection, and of course, READING!

Mrs. Chapman enjoys being outside and traveling to new cities. She loves coffee and ice cream and coffee ice cream. She lives with her partner in their home filled with musical instruments not too far away. You can follow her on instagram at @steamlibrarian.
