Procedure

Several things you need to do upon arrival in Japan.

Please read carefully and do it through the checklist below !

1. At the airport

Receive a Residence Card with a seal of landing verification stamped on your passport

2. At the Ward Office

□ Registration of Address (at Registration Desk) within 14 days

Application for National Health Insurance (at National Insurance Desk)

□ Application for National Pension System (at National Insurance Desk)

3. At Nagoya University

□ Registration and Enrollment

a. Meet the staff in charge of international student affairs at your school office.(School: ) (Name: ) (Contact address: ) (Tel: ) b. Meet your academic adviser. (Name: ) (Contact address: ) c. Meet the international student adviser of GSES. (Name: Professor CHUN, Room 414 Environmental Studies Hall 4F )

□ Attend All Orientation programs

a. University-wide orientation for new international students (Date & Time/Place: ) b. Orientation program at your school (Date & Time/Place: ) c. Orientation program at your university dormitory (Date & Time/Place: )

□ Undergo the Medical Check-up → (Check the Date & Time/Place: )

4. At Immigration Office

Visa renewal (please see the Application for Extension of Period of Stay linked below)

    • While on a leave of absence, your “College Student” status of residence will in principal no longer apply, and you will be unable to remain in Japan because you are not currently engaged in “student” activities. Therefore, please return to your home country temporarily.

※ Academic absence (休学)

You need to return to your home country temporarily, while on a leave of absence.

Your “College Student” status of residence will not be allowed. You should not stay in Japan because you are not currently engaged in “student” activities.
