Creating a Class Pandemic Playlist

Context:

Have you ever used music to help you through a tough time ? When you listen to a song, does it remind you of a specific person, place or experience? Have you ever made a playlist to share with your friends?

Last week, I met with Noa Daniels @noasbobs as a guest on the Personal Playlist Podcast. I was asked to prepare for the podcast by thinking about 3 different songs that described more about me.

Here is the Podcast - with a shoutout to ELA 20-2 at the end : https://www.spreaker.com/user/personalplaylistpodcast/p3-140-dr-verena-roberts-1

I was asked to choose three songs ahead of time:

  • nostalgic (a throwback): Something from the past (something that happened, something you did/accomplished, somewhere you went, something related to your family when you were younger, a memory) - Dr. Roberts' choice: Cranberries (Zombie)

  • Identity: Something that you are, something that you love to do, something that tells us about you - Dr. Roberts' Choice: Coldplay (Sky Full of Stars

  • pick-me-up/inspirational/motivational/pump up : Something that would help you overcome obstacles, give you the power to tackle difficult situations or make you feel good about yourself- Dr. Roberts' Choice: Eva Cassidy - (Fields of Gold)

Possible Questions:

1) Listen to the podcast and the songs. Review the three types of songs: nostalgic, Identity and Pick-me-up or motivational. Do any of the songs remind you of something or someone?

2) As a class - we are creating our own "Pandemic Playlist" - what are 1-2 songs that YOU would add to the playlist and why? Add your playlist picks HERE

3) Choose one of the following digital means of reflection to share your feelings, reactions and /or responses based on your notes and the questions above.

Consider adding the #WalkMyWorld Hashtag to your reflections if you decide to share them with social media.

The more creative the better.....:)
